Unlocking Potential, One Therapy Session At a Time

Using a diverse array of modalities is essential for fostering a well rounded therapy session. From evidence-based practices to innovative approaches, our therapeutic modalities and interventions focus on different aspects of sensory processing, motor coordination, and physical function to unlock the greatest potential of each individual.

  • Vibration Therapy

Whole body vibration is a practice whereby the individual completes exercises on a machine with a vibrating platform. The vibration transmits energy to the body and strengthens muscles by forcing them to contract and relax several times per second. As each wave moves through the body, some of the energy is absorbed by the tissues of the body and is converted to heat. Muscles and joints feel and operate better when they are warm. Whole body vibration has been shown to create a warming effect in muscles and joints faster and easier than other types of exercise. Many therapeutic benefits have been documented in research including increased muscle mass and bone mineral density, improved gross motor function, strength, gait, and mobility, as well as reduced spasticity.

  • Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation

Muscle stimulation therapy utilizes Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation devices to send electrical impulses to the muscles at specific frequencies and intensities for purposes of strengthening and/or stimulating the muscles. Muscle stimulation can help improve muscle strength, tone and range of motion, especially when combined with other therapy. The electrical pulses are said to mimic the actions of signals coming from neurons – the cells of the nervous system. Muscle stimulation therapy can benefit movement, body alignment, blood flow, muscle function and strength, as well as promote skill development.

  • Vestibular Rehabilitation

Our vestibular system provides us with information surrounding where our body is in space; deficits in this system leads to lack of balance and general limitations in movement as well as vision. Vestibular Rehabilitation Therapy is a therapy intended to alleviate problems with a disregulated vestibular system. The types of exercises utilized to strengthen one’s vestibular system involve movement using a variety of equipment, in combination with other therapies.

  • Sensory Integration

Sensory integration therapy aims to help an individual with sensory processing issues by exposing them to sensory stimulation in a structured, repetitive way. The theory behind it is that over time, the brain will adapt and allow one to process and react to sensations more efficiently.

  • Intensive therapy is a concentrated, accelerated treatment approach designed to target specific areas of development over a short period. These sessions typically consist of multiple hours of therapy each day for several consecutive days or weeks. By increasing the frequency and intensity of interventions, the goal is to maximize progress efficiently.

This approach is highly effective for children with various diagnoses, allowing them to make significant strides in a shorter timeframe. Intensive therapy not only promotes physical development and overall well-being, but it also fosters strong, meaningful connections between children and therapists, enhancing the therapeutic experience.
